How do I navigate this site?

What is aNSwer?

aNSwer is an acronym of A North South Website of Environmental Research. As the name suggests it is a joint North South project which acts as a central information point for all Environmental Research work carried out in the island of Ireland. Where is aNSwer?

aNSwer is a purely online development. It is managed and updated by the two Government departments; the Environment and Heritage Service (EHS) in Northern Ireland and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the Republic of Ireland.

 

How can I contact aNSwer?

There are several ways to contact aNSwer. These are provided in the Contact section of the site.

 

Who are EHS and EPA?

The Environment and Heritage Service (EHS) is a Northern Ireland government agency who from time to time commission environmental research for support of their business needs. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), is the government agency in the Republic of Ireland who manage the Environmental Research and Technological Development Programme (ERTDI) 2000-2006 on behalf of the Department of Environment and Local Government.

 

Do you supply information and posters?

We supply information posters about aNSwer for Schools, Colleges and Universities, research establishments and other information centres. The posters contain information about aNSwer, the website address and the features available on the site.

 

What kind of information is available on aNSwer?

aNSwer includes details of Environmental Research Projects from within the island of Ireland. The title of the project and a brief summary are provided as well as Email links to the Researchers and links to similar projects.

 

Where can I find more information on Environmental Research in the island of Ireland?

If you want to find out more about any of the organisations involved in environmental research, search our database of organisations.

 

What is available to aNSwer members?

There are a number of features available to aNSwer members. Members are able to suggest links, news stories and events of an interest to environmental research, although these suggestions must be acceptable to the Site Managers before they are added to the site.

 

How much does it cost to be a member and how can I join?

It is free to become a member of aNSwer. You must show that you have an interest in environmental research and work or study in some capacity in this area. To join you must submit an application form which will be considered by the Site Managers. You will then receive a username and password that you will use when returning to the site.

 

How can my organisation publish Environmental Research information on aNSwer?

To publish environmental research projects and documents on this website you must first apply to become an aNSwer “organisation”. You can apply by contacting sitemanager@answer-online.org. To be accepted, an organisation must show:

  • The majority of research is carried out in the island of Ireland.
  • Research is carried out for “public good” purposes.
  • They agree to our terms and conditions which protect all parties involved in the website
